I never started on the what to eat when you can't eat anything. I just couldn't do it- or wouldn't. I went with the pretty safe stuff on the basic list. I couldn't get worse doing that you know. Cutting out dairy, fat and red meat made a huge difference right away and since I have a very active job I needed more real food than just rice and toast.
What you need to be careful with is doing all the things Heather and other people say you can do after a time- like having salad at the end of a meal or eating acidy or spicy food. Try to be normal but a little bland and don't freak out about stuff. If you are doing bad enough to go on the diet than you will certainly receive improvement! Good luck!

IBS-A for 20 years with terrible bloating and gas. On the diet since April 2004. Remember this from Heather's information pages:
"You absolutely must eat insoluble fiber foods, and as much as safely possible, but within the IBS dietary guidelines. Treat insoluble fiber foods with suitable caution, and you'll be able to enjoy a wide variety of them, in very healthy quantities, without problem." Please eat IF foods!
