I was just looking at old posts and doing searches and I have seen alot of threads about acne. And yes, I will agree with many of the posts that Proactiv is a miracle worker. However, it is just an over the counter product that treats mostly the surface of the skin.
One of the true triggers of acne is iodine. When i started the IBS diet, my stomach got better, but my skin was terrible, and I had been using Proactiv for 5 years and had beautiful skin. But not even Proactiv could control the cystic pimple flare ups. So I did some researching and looking and the IBS diet contains many foods high in iodine, most of the rice an soy milks have sea salt which is usually iodized, baked lays and tortilla chips usually have iodized salt, tuna, salmon, shrimp, seafood all contain iodine.
by limiting your iodine intake you can really help your skin. Also, buy non-iodized salt, for use at home, unfortunately most restarant food and processed foods contain iodized salt.
This is just advice for anyone struggling with acne. I hope it helps someone.
