Welcome karenj~ How awful for your poor daughter! This must be so hard for both of you! Just remember, that things will get better, and that this diet calls for substitution, not deprivation.
Orange juice is a trigger for me (D) if I don't have anything in my stomach. If I've had a soluble fiber base, I can have a small glass of it. I'm not too big on juices, so hopefully some of the others can give you some more advice there. Just watch out for triggers like high fructose corn syrup (HFCS).
You also need to watch out for HFCS and sorbitol in candy. My favorites right now are Nerds. Chocolate is a trigger for many people, especially milk chocolate. I can handle a few pieces myself, but everyone is different. If you can, check out the Recipe Boards for some yummy safe desert ideas you can make for your daughter on Halloween. This way, you can limit how much candy she eats and still let her have treats.
Did the doctor give or recommend anything to help with the diarrhea? Like immodium, or something else to stop/help with attacks?
Pasta and white rice are both staples, good when you feel like you can't eat anything. Have you checked out the diet information on Heather's main page? It's really helpful.
I know that there is a lot of information to sort through, but you and your daugter will get through this. Please feel free to come back anytime with questions, 'cause we love to help here.
Glad you found the community
