I had my app't with the GI a couple of weeks ago and had spent time typing out my medical history with IBS, spastic colon etc, and wrote out everything I had tried and what had worked and what didnt'. I was pretty proud of myself and figured that one-pager would be a big help for the doc in diagnosing me. Plus, by writing everything out, I figured I wouldn't forget to tell him something that might help him make a better diagnosis. WEll, he comes in and I handed him the sheet; he looked at it for about 30 seconds and then proceeded to ask me some questions that he would have found out the answers to if he would have read my sheet!!!!! Plus, I'm sure he didn't even know about acacia, because he told me to get off it right away and start FiberCon.
I don't know, Heather, why these guys feell they have to be know-it-alls...plus, mine said he was plagued with a little bit of IBS. Wouldn't you think he'd be more sympathetic?.. I have to go back in 6 weeks to see if the anti-d he put me on did anything. And so far, I haven't switched over to the fibercon...I like the acacia.
So----------all that to say, hang in there. You're not alone. If your own gp can order tests I'd stick with her. Some can't. I know in this area, the gp's have to set you up with a GI who will run the tests. So you'll just have to find out. Relax tonight and hopefully the increased Zoloft will help you feel better emotionally.
