Hello everyone. I came across this site by accident and have only one question I need to ask before buying any of the books or supplements from here, and that is this: does dairy HAVE to be a trigger if you have irritable bowel?
I've had it for ten years. I was not tested for it but by my symptoms my doctors (I have several) all agreed with me when I diagnosed myself. The thing is...dairy doesn't bother me. High fat dairy, yes. Lots of cheese, for example, makes me very sick. But skim milk, low-fat yoghurts, even low-fat ice creams...they don't seem to bother me at all.
It is possible that they give me gas, I don't know...I don't really pay attention to gas and I have a high pain tolerance and might not even notice it. (IBS is not my only medical 'issue'...I have several other problems as well, which is probably why my tolerance for pain is so high.)
That dairy is villanized on this site bothers me. I do understand that it may be a problem for many, even most, but if the belief hereabouts is that you either HAVE to be badly affected by any dairy product, or you don't have IBS, then I don't feel secure in trusting the information the Eating for IBS cookbook would offer.
That is all I wish to know. I couldn't find an answer to that in any place I have so far checked.
