Hi all.
So earlier this year when I started trying to follow this diet thing, I defenetly noticed a difference when I cut out egg yolks. For some reason I hadn't thought of them as a trigger before and between my husband and I we had been going through about half a dozen a week. So I was glad to check one more thing off my list that I knew was in the "do not eat" category and go on with life with less D. But I've also been noticing problems with egg whites recently - especially if I eat more than one egg white in one sitting, or if I eat them without a good solluable fiber base. This weekend hubby and I went out to breakfast at a Mexican restarant and EVERYTHING on the menu had eggs. I asked the waiter if they could make my mushroom ommlet with just the whites, he got a funny look on his face, but said it would be alright. When he brought out the plates I defenetly had an all white ommlet, but he politely told me he didn't think they would be able to do that in the future - his cook got mad at him because egg whites don't congeal for the ommlet like whole eggs. But this ommlet must have had about 6 egg whites in it - they were thick and goopy and it appeared nearly swimming in butter. I wanted to be good since the waiter had been nice about it and all and they had made it with whites even though I guess it was inconvenient. There was also cheese in the ommlet, hadn't expected that since it wasn't listed on the menu and a plane cheese ommlet was listed separately. I tryed to scrape off most of the cheese and I did get through about half the ommlet. I then ate some fruit and that was all I could get down. Within an hour after eating I had a full on D attack, lots of pain and bad for the tummy D! This is not the first time egg whites have done this to me - just the most recent and one of the more severe. I'm sure the butter didn't help either. I seem to be able to tollerate them in small doses, but I don't know. I'm just trying to see, does anyone else have sensitivities to egg whites? Should I write off the whole egg all together - what do you do with recipes that call for eggs?
Thanks for any suggestions.
