I had something similar to you a few years ago. Gnawing pain in upper stomach. I had all the tests done, too, thinking it was an ulcer. It wasn't. Doc gave me some prescription Pepcid for stomach acid and told me to eat low fat and not to overeat. I did and it really helped. Sometimes that type of pain can be trapped gas, too. Phazyme helps me with that. I can eat a small amount of dairy if I take a lactaid pill first. But, since you are having problems, I would cut out the dairy for now and see what happens.
