Hi guys
I could reallly use some advice on this. My friends have invited me camping this weekend and I REALLY want to go. The only problem is that my stomach hasn't reallly been 100% lately, and there are NO BATHROOMS THERE. It's just one night, but basically it's just you go in the bush. As a person with IBS, as I'm sure you can all commiserate, the very thought strikes fear into my heart.
When I say I haven't been 100% that means that while I'm not feeling like crap all the time I'm still having D about 3 times a day - a little bit of pain, and urgency, that's relieved after going to the bathroom. But having D in the bush is NOT my idea of a good time!
So basically if I'm going to be having a good time, I'm not going to need to be preventing the D from happening in the first place. I've been thinking of bringing a package of Immodium and using it as a preventative, as I know some of you do. I've never done this before, only used it after the fact to stop D once it's started. But like I said, I really don't want it to be starting at all. What dosage do you take/when? When you first feel the 'rumblings'? Thanks for any help you can give.
Also, any ideas on what food I can bring? Cooking will be a fire, probably a grill to put a frying pan on... I'm going to bring some bread and crackers to snack on the whole time, plus water bottles and acacia, and some potatoes to bake in the fire, maybe a chicken breast or two...
Anyway, maybe this is just a pipe dream for a person with IBS, and I'll have to suffer the humiliation and pain of the bush. It's really stressing me out just the thought of it - which is bad for my stomach to begin with. I get stressed out just worrying about where I can find a bathroom - but NO BATHROOM!?!?!?!
