Michelle, Thanks for your encouragement. I've tried SSRIs in the past, but I can't tolerate the side effects (no sleep, tremors, nausea). I seem to have a sensitive system. I think the hypnotherapy might be worthwhile, and I'm looking at some other ways to relieve stress naturally. Part of the deal is facing up to the reality that I'm internalizing a lot of stuff, which is probably causing some of the physical factors.
