I have been considering the possibility that stress is a big contributor. For some reason I always hate to attribute health problems to stress, because it makes me feel like I'm weak or something. I'd much rather have some definitive medical diagnosis. But there has been a lot of stress in my life for the past couple of years, and perhaps that is the cause. Unfortunately, the stressors aren't easy to eliminate--I have been responsible for care of my mother who has dementia for the past 5 years (she's in a nursing home, but I still need to spend a lot of time with her). And my husband's and my jobs were negatively impacted by 9/11 and the subsequent economic problems. There's been a lot going on. Maybe my stomach has been bearing the brunt of all that!
