So sorry you've had such a bad time of it lately.
I don't know if this will help but here goes:
Although I believe I've had IBS for roughly ten years, it became severe this January and I called my GP for help. Before I was actually diagnosed with IBS (the tests and appointments took another 4 months) I lost 10 pounds that I could not afford to lose and caught a bug that everyone else around me had. The bug hit me hard, lasted 10 days instead of the 2 days like everyone else and intensified my nausea to the point that I immediately lost another 5 pounds. My GP, who was waiting for test results before referring me to my GI Dr., told me that I had to eat (I was now terrified to do so)and told me to follow the BRAT diet until I could tolerate more food. The BRAT diet is Bananas, Rice, Applesauce and Toast (bread). I tried it and it worked. Little did I know then that I had IBS and the BRAT diet worked because it's just a shorter version of Heather's diet. My GP did not prescribe an antibiotic.
I also exercise regularly (running, pilates, aerobics) but did not do so while I was sick.
I doubt this is much help, hopefully someone else will have better advice.
Congratulations on your wedding and I hope you feel better soon.
Kim
