I'm sorry that I didn't get back to you sooner.
I've had IBS since HS, but lately it's gotten much worse, so my gastro Dr. suggested that we do another colonoscopy and endo (I had them done about 3 yrs ago). This time, he found inflammation and started me on the Asacol (400 mg 3x/day, which I thought was a high dose). It worked, all right: I went from having D to severe C.
Yes, I do have other side effects also: nausea, headache, insomnia, more aches and pains (I already have fibromyalgia, too).
