I don't think doctors know that much about IBS themselves and am always saying they could learn something from coming on this website.
My doctor didn't tell me what to eat or not eat either. Just what to take for it. Thank goodness for the internet or we wouldn't be on this message board. I find we get more help here than from the doctors and for sure a lot more caring and sympathy from the people here as they KNOW what we're going through.
I don't understand why they didn't tell you not to eat any fats with your gallstones unless that's what she meant by creamy foods. Fats and spicy food WILL make the gallbladder act up when you have stones. When you lose weight the stones usually stay in one place. When you start eating things again that you shouldn't eat the stones start moving around in the gallbladder and that's what causes all the pain associated with it. Right now you haven't been having the attacks but if you do then I would recommend thinking about having it removed. Had mine done as I waited until the 4th attack which was way too long to wait and ended up getting an infected spleen also. Had it done laprascopically which takes a lot less healing time. If you have been having Diarrhea that could also be caused from the gallbladder. Even after the removal, D is usually one of the problems that take the longest to clear up.
Know you'll probably get a lot of answers to your post and hope their comments will help you with your decision about what to do. As far as the IBS keep asking questions HERE. You'll get much more help than what most doctors will give.
