Irritable Bowel Syndrome Message Boards

I just joined and yesterday I was just skimming over all the info. Well, today I was reading on the home page and it mentions the problems that you need to rule out before knowing if you really have IBS.

Originally, I went to my GYN first to find out if I had endometriosis and told her the symptoms I had. I read that with endometriosis, you may have GI problems. She said that it's possible-but I would have to see a GI specialist because it seems that my problems are stemming from GI problems-not endometriosis, in her opinion. No testing-just her opinion.

My question is, does Endometriosis cause the same kind of symptoms as IBS? If so, why didn't my GYN follow through.

This is so frustrating. I feel like I am being sent everywhere. I have been to the doctors once a week for 2 months now. And...I'm no closer to knowing what's wrong with me. I'm too young for this garbage!

Well, if anyone can shed some light on the Endometriosis and IBS connection, please let me know. I'm seeing my GI tomorrow-for the first time-and would like to bring it up to him. I just want to make sure I ask the right questions.
