Irritable Bowel Syndrome Message Boards

Just wish to convey my heartfelt thanks to Heather for this web site and all her wonderful books and recipies. I've likely had IBS all my life, (bloating, upset stomach, etc) but it only turned to pain and bad nocturia 10 months ago. My primary Dr had no clue, sent me to a Urologist who also had no clue (put me on high doses of Urised which barely contained the pain). I switched Primary and found a new Urologist who immediately said "read up on IBS on the Internet" and prescrived low dose Imipramine. I got on the web, found this site and immediately changed my diet. Out with the milk, yogurt, cheese, OJ, granola, raisin brand cereals, oh, and no more coffee (even the low-acid gives me problems). I ate all the safe soluable fiber on Heather's list, drank lots of peppermint tea, and apologized to my digestive tract for mistreating it all these years.. And within 1 week the PAIN WAS GONE. I am now going to wean myself off the imipramine and try to control this all with diet only. The Imipramine side effects are unpleasant and I honestly think the diet changes make all the difference.

Heather, I am so very grateful to you for this site and all the information you've published. I was really suffering and felt hopeless. Also, I've never been much of a cook but now I have lots of incentive to learn and I'm having fun making your easy recipies!
