Hi, I'm a little confused about eating red meats. Having read some encouraging posts from Bevrs on how good turkey meat is as a substitute for groud beef, I went looking for some at my grocer. I already know that I like the taste of ground turkey from having it in the past, but pre-IBS.
The ground turkey was labled as having 7.5g fat per 4 oz serving, but right next to it was extra-lean ground beef with a label showing 4.5g fat per 4 oz serving. This leads me to believe that since the fat content is lower in this particular item of beef, it could be the better choice (unless there are ground turkeys lower than 7.5g).
Or is there something other than the fat content in beef that makes it an IBS trigger? (similar to coffee being a trigger for both the caffinated and de-caffinated kinds)
Ditto logic for Subway sandwiches which show turkey as having 4.5g fat per serving (sandwich) and roast beef as having 5.0g. That is so close, how can .5g matter?
Thanks for your help!
