I am a very youthful 50 y/o woman who was recently been diagnosed with high cholestoral (Type 2A Hereditary), osteoporosis, and of course IBS. Also, I am lactose intolerant and have numerous environmental/food/medicine allergies and sensitivities. Other than these I am in fine health. I should also explain that my HDL is the problem, the triglycerides and the LDL are fine. After many years of suffering, I am doing well on Heather's IBS eating plan. I have had very few flairups (maybe once every other month) and only when I eat a diet no-no. Additionally, I recently lost my Dad to lymphoma and I was his health care adminsistrator. Although my doctor is concerned about my cholesterol, I believe that my problem is more stress related and manage to maintain an average blood pressure of 100/60. Yeah, I know, its low--it's a family thing. Everyone, including my adult children, have it, symptoms of IBS, and high cholesterol. I have recently begun working out again--walking, dancing, strength training--after a six-month hiatus. Until recently, I have had a hard time keeping weight on my body. I am 5' 5" tall, small-framed and weigh 115 lbs. I would love to get back to 125 but I do not think its going to happen. I am currently asking for food intake assistance (I really dislike the word diet)to remedy my health issues. I know this is long but I have to add that soy does not agree with me--need I say more.
