Need help       02/22/04 09:41 PM Edit Reply Quote Jerryn Reged: 02/22/04 Posts: 42 Loc: New Brunswick, Canada I have recently been told by my family doctor that I have IBS (along with GERD which I had surgery for). Ever since my surgery last April, I have these intense, sharp stabbing pains in my rib cage area, both sides but sharper on the left. I go back and forth from diarrhea to mostly constipation. I am trying to get some metamucil in my system, but it seems that when I do, these pains come on. Does that happen when a person tries to increase their fiber. i was told to do this by my doctor. Had a BIG attack which lasted all night Friday and kept me awake. The rest of this weekend has been loss of appetite (or too afraid to eat) and lots of gas.
