I was diagnosed 2 days ago but I've been without insurance. Mine kicks in on February 1. I was treating myself and doing research on the web to find out what was wrong. The pain was near my navel and it resembled appendicitis but I ruled it out on my own because I didnt have a fever. I began to log when it would occur and always it was right after a meal and could last for 6 hours or more. I was out of work for 2 weeks just trying to hang in there because of no insurance. Finally, I came to my senses, and went to see the doctor. I had an ultrasound to rule out appendicitis, diverticulitis and anything else. I also had blood work. All the symptoms plus my history of fibromyalgia showed IBS. I paid for it on my Credit card. Yes, I will have a pre-existing,and a bill, but my peace of mind is worth it. Please see a doctor.
