Irritable Bowel Syndrome Message Boards | Hello! Another bad tummy for the board

I am new to the board too...but not new to ibs. But, gee, now it is official...dr. reporting on the ct scan said "You have constipation with ibs" DUH. It has been on and off for at least 6 years...I thought it was dairy but the more I read the more I see other triggers (fat?caffeine? oh noooooooo!)I was just put on zelnorm..interested to see how it will do. Fighting with insurance to get it payed for...they will but they want me to "fight" for it it seems. WIll try the soluble fiber too. I have several pairs of loose or elastic pants that help for those bloat days. My favorite "cocktail" is an Aleve, a Gas-X and a tagamet/xantac(something for the nausea). Usually stiffles it but I have to go lay down for a while. Now will try the heat too. Lessee....Cramps, stretch marks, periods, breast/ovarian cancer scares...etc etc... and ibs...what else do we women have to deal with? Oh...never mind...I might not want to hear. oh...has anyone heard of using Pantothenic acid? It is usually in most multi-vitamins. My father is a retired (for abt 7-8 yrs now) internist and used to recommend it to his ibs patients. He said they would give him good feedback on it...but I want to look it up further before I try it. He said it was a high dose.
The board has given me LOTS of great ideas to help me adjust my diet...I am looking forward to finally getting some relief! Thanks everyone....
