They didn't seem to help with the gas (I get really bad bloating, maybe it wasn't enough) and it seemed to aggrivate the C. I sometimes also feel the gas spasm through the colon...the charcoal seemed to induce this. It you have tried it, let us know how you went. I can't be sure if it was the charcoal that caused the reation I had (I get the same reaction to multivitamins) but I'm a bit afraid to have another try.
