For reasons that are only slightly less than random, i'm now wondering if its a hernia. I have pain that fits the description except that its rather minor and extremely infrequent which is why i've never considered the possibility before.

I'll be making an appointment with a GP as soon as i can. (not as soon as i'd like since i'm starting a new job.)
