Ive gotten this too, usually at night. I'm not sure if it's reflux, IBS or gallbladder (could be any of the 3 with me), but here's what I do: I try to exercise, even in the middle of the night. I march in place or get on the stationary bike. This usually causes me to be able to expel some gas or have a bowel movement, which relieves the pain somewhat. Sometimes drinking a lot of water helps too. If that fails, I take 3 ibuprofen (600 mg) and lay propped up or on my left side (propped up in the pain is still bad, left side if it's much improved but still kinda there). I have had this pain off and on for years. I have noticed that constipation, eating dairy, or overeating/eating high fat foods usually bring it on.
