I apologize if this isn't the right place to post this, but I didn't see a message board to discuss symptoms. I have had lifelong IBS. Several years ago, I would have horribly painful bowel movements with cramping and spasms that would leave me bloated and sore for days. Then one day, it just went away and I've never had an attack like that again. After that IBS pretty much meant for me, constipation for several days, and then urgent, crampy BM's after that, then the whole cycle starting again. My symptoms are closely related to my menstrual cycle, and I also have endometriosis.
Lately, though, since January-February of this year, my symptoms have changed. I now have intense C, nausea/queasiness, followed by explosive D, and a ton of bloating in between. I often wake up at night feeling nauseated or crampy until I "go", or I just stay in a state of half-sleep all night because my abdomen is cramping and I can't fully relax.
I have read that IBS won't wake you up at night, but we ready a lot of things about IBS that aren't true, don't we?? I recently had an endoscopy for the reflux and the doctor said everything looked fine and he wasn't concerned about cancer because of my age and past clean colonoscopies. So the doc seems to think it's just IBS, but why have my symptoms changed so much? Has anyone else had these experiences?
Just a side note - I just received Heather's book and the Acacia tummy fiber & fennel tea earlier this week. I have been taking the fiber faithfully for a few days, but I have not totally changed my diet yet because I haven't had a chance to get to the store and load up on safe foods. That is on my agenda for the weekend!
