I am working with a "Master Herbalist" to help my IBS and thyroid. She claims that my IBS is a symptom of my thyroid not functioning properly due to the fact that it has a cyst on it. She gave me three different supplements, and I want to try just one at time so I know which ones affect me in what way. I started taking Arctic Alginate 2 days ago, which is basically an iodine-containg kelp called Norwegian Fjord Kelp, or Ascophylum Nodosum, commonly called Knotted Wrack. It's ground up into a powder in gelatin capsules. The iodine in it helps support thyroid function. It also says it has anti-inflammatory effects on digestive tissue.

I can't find anything on the internet about its being soluble or insoluble fiber, just that it "offers fiber to increase fecal bulk."

I guess I am just wondering if this is really a good thing for me to take. (I have constipation-dominant IBS.)
