I got a new kind of oatmeal from Trader Joes last week and it has a lot of good stuff thrown in there that I like (including more soluble than insoluble, rare for oatmeal). However, scanning the label more closely, down near the bottom of the ingredients there is mention of Sodium Caseinate. I looked it up and it's a milk based protein. I have had this oatmeal with no perceived ill effect (I mean, aside from the generall crappyness I feel every day no matter what I eat). My guess is that it's probably such a small portion as not to register. It's down in the vitamin section of the ingredients between silicon dioxide and grape seed extract, so I'm doubting there's a lot in there.

Does anyone have experience with this? I know in her book Heather says small portions of chocolate (high fat + dairy) are ok for her after a meal, etc. I like this stuff so I'm hoping is isn't hurting me on some level I can't perceive.
