Does the % of Acacia in your diet make any different on bowel function? What I mean is, say you are used to 5-10g a day of Acacia (plus some SF from food) and you then cut your food intake by 50%. Would maintaining the same level of SF supplementation (and therefore doubling the % of your overall diet that is fiber) cause increased bowel motility, potential D? People here always talk about fiber in absolute terms, that is in teaspoons, tablespoons, and grams, but I haven't heard anything about percentages, like if a person who eats 2000 calories a day would in essence need 1/3 less acacia than someone who eats 3000, and double what someone who eats 1000 (say on the emergency diet) would be able to tolerate. I'm just wondering if one of the contributors to how I've been feeling lately is related to maintaining my fiber supplementation while drastically reducing overall diet variety and slightly reducing overall caloric intake.
Syl, just curious, is the topic of your research (as per your profile) IBS or GI stuff in general? That seems like an interesting job for an IBS sufferer.
