Hi everyone,

I was diagnosed with IBS 6 years ago, with of course the standard "eat more fiber" as the only help offered. I know I've been suffering for many more years before that, though. I've been mostly D with some minor C, and with periods of stabilization. About a month and a half ago, I had so much bloating I thought I was pregnant. That's when I found Heather's site and ordered everything. I realized just how much of the diet makes sense and matches my symptoms. Anyway, after 3 and a half weeks of getting gradually better, I ate something I knew was probably gonna kill me, but I had bought it before starting the diet and didn't want to throw it away.

Should have thrown it away!!!!!

Got an attack within minutes of finishing the meal. Massive pain and D. I didn't want to take Immodium because when I've used it in the past I wouldn't be able to go at all for a few days, but after 2 days of pain and not leaving the house, I couldn't take it anymore. My question:

I'm starting day 6 (!!) of no movement. I just drank a cup of coffee out of desperation-- nothing. I've been slowly adding IF, but maybe not enough? I've continued my acacia fiber and been increasing steadily. I've never taken a laxative before, and I'm afraid to start in case I get stuck in another vicious cycle. At what point do I take a laxative, and which one?

Thanks for your help!!!!!!
