Peppermint caps caused discomfort

Hi,
I purchased some peppermint capsules to try with my 20 yr. old special needs daughter who is IBS-C and gets alot of abdominal pain and gas. I tried one first (I don't have IBS issues)and about a half-hour later I could feel a very strong, uncomfortable minty sensation in my stomach and reflux discomfort that I've never had before. I had given one for my daughter to try at the same time but she never swallowed it and the capsule dissolved right in her mouth after a very short time and all the contents just drooled out of her mouth. I rinsed her mouth out right away to prevent any irritation. I am glad she didn't swallow it as she does have a small hiatal hernia and occassional reflux.
I don't do peppermint tea at all with her because this does give her reflux problems but I wanted to try the capsules as they are enteric coated and thought they would bypass her stomach and make it to the intestines and hopefully alleviate some of the abdominal spasms, etc.. I am so glad she didn't because they certainly dissolved in my stomach quickly and caused alot of discomfort. What else is there out there to try. Levsin didn't help her and made her somewhat agitated and hyper. I had such high hopes to try the peppermint capsules but I can't see them being an option now.
