Well, Bev, I realized it was the weekend and I couldn't even call the gastroenterologist to move up my appointment like you suggested, so I decided to try some more of my tried and true bm friendly things. I had a whole bunch of berries - nothing. I went for a run - nothing. I had dinner and I doubled over in pain. I read that impaction would obstruct bm from passing and would have to be removed by a doctor so I got scared. So my family took me to the hospital. I didn't get to see my x-ray, but the doctor said there's no blockage - only lots and lots of stool that needs to come out. So now I'm waiting for the laxative to take effect and still feeling miserable.
It's a liquid, prescription that adds fluid to your intestinal tract. It's called lactulose - any one familiar with it? I haven't lost my appetite, but I should probably keep a bland liquid-y diet. I have a long way to go to wellness, and I feel that everything I eat just adds to the problem (fiber or no fiber - it's not moving).
Wish me luck! If this laxative does the trick, maybe I can just start all over with the great, balanced and safe diet I was keeping, and actually benefit from it!
