SIBO test - anyone been through it?

My GI doctor wants to give me a SIBO test, which is a breath test to check the level of bacteria in the small intestine. When the nurse was giving me the prescription to bring with me on the day of the test I asked her if there are any side effects to the medicine that might upset my stomach (I am IBS-D). She said, no, there shouldn't be since you will be taking such a small dose of the syrup for the test. So, I went and got the prescription filled and it is a LAXATIVE! Not exactly something someone with IBS-D wants to come near! I am now FREAKING out about the test, as they said I would easily be able to go back to work afterwards. The side effects of the medicine are stomach cramps, bloating, gas & diarrhea. Which is what I deal with normally so I am assuming their little syrup is going to set off a chain reaction that day. I was wondering if anyone has been through this test, and what the syrup really does to someone with IBS-D? Thanks!
