I am very frequently very bloated feeling, especially in the evening, which can be very distracting for some activities... Any recommendations on what to do? Teas? Specific foods to avoid or include?
I am new to the world of IBS, time consuming and painful problems with alternating C and D for about 6 months led me to go to the doctor and he pegged me with IBS. I did a lot of research and luckily ran into Heather's books and website. I have followed her dietary advice as closely as I can for almost two months: no red meat, no dairy, no coffee, no chocolate, no alchohol, go easy on the ISF, supplimenting about 16g SF, no eggs, watch the fat, etc. Though I really miss cheese, coffee and beer (though not together , otherwise it has not been very difficult once I memorized the long list of nonos and got familiar with the good stuff. And I've lost about 12 pounds which is not bad.
I have shifted towards a tolerable BM pattern bordering on C but much better and more consistent than before.
But the thing that is the worst is the bloating. I feel like I'm going to pop, as I said, especially in the evening.
One thing I am curious about is if Soy gives anyone this trouble? I have been substituting Soy Milk, cheese, yogurt, a bit of soy ice cream, and wondering if that causes bloating? I hope not because I really need some kind of milk substitute...
