MelE, have you tried this yet? How is it working for you?

I'll preface my experience with, I'm still waiting on my final diagnosis (not 100% sure I have IBS), and I should know by this coming Monday. I've been taking Levsin/Symax for several weeks as-needed, and it seemed like that helped somewhat but only really changes "horrible" to "bad" or "bad" to "I can deal with that." I had a colonoscopy a week ago and at the time I told the doctor how the Levsin was working, and he prescribed me Bentyl/Dicyclomine to take twice a day. In the last week my stomach has been significantly calmer than it has in a long time. At first I thought maybe it was the procedure prep but now - the longer it lasts - I think it's the Dicyclomine.

BTW I searched for both "dicyclomine" and "bentyl" separately and found several interesting threads, in case you haven't already done that. Looks like different people have different results. Since it's worked so well for me, when I see my doctor I'm going to ask him about taking it long-term.

There are a bunch of possible side effects. The most common are supposed to be dizziness, drowsiness, blurred vision, dry mouth. I get bad dry mouth from Levsin but not from Dicyclomine. I don't think it's causing me any side effects except perhaps a tiny bit of trouble balancing that I only notice when I'm dancing so that very well might not be from the medicine.
