It sounds like the caps are dissolving in your stomach and releasing the oils there. Are you taking them on an empty stomach with just a little bit of water? They're designed to not dissolve until they pass your stomach, but you have to make sure not to drink too much water that will help dissolve it too soon.

The peppermint caps don't agree with me either. I took one on an empty stomach so maybe it was just the feeling of the pill in my stomach that I didn't like. I've seen some other posts by people who don't do well with them. I've only taken one and am not sure if I'll try them again.

I've read the because peppermint is a muscle relaxant, in addition to relaxing the stomach it can relax the muscle that closes between the stomach and esophagus, so drinking mint tea for example can increase acid reflux. I think that's what is increasing your acid. If they work like the label says and don't dissolve until exiting your stomach, then they shouldn't cause acid.
