About 3 months ago I suddenly became severely constipated without any explanaion. I've always been extremely regular and ate pretty healthy also because I'm a vegetarian. I have two young children and suffer from anxiety. I have panic attacks and break out into hives from the stress. I've always had a nervous stomach and would get butterlies over every little thing. I've noticed that after the pregnancies my hormones have caused my body to change and become much more suseptable to all of these things. I am currently breastfeeding therefore my hormones are still ravaging my body. So after suffering from this constipation for a month I visited my PCP. She had my blood tested and the results showed that a specific white blood cell count was high indicating that there was an intestinal infection caused my a)a parasitic infection, b)a food allergy or c)IBS. She recomended that I use a fiber supplement and make an appointment with a GI. I hate doctors so I went online and did some research. All my symptoms seem to be that I have IBS. The constipation, the cramps, the gas. All get worse when I eat dairy, chocolate, drink coffee, and others etc. I've been following the advice that I've read on this website and it all seems to be helping a great deal. I am very thankful to not be in severe pain from the cramping and gas that would wake me in the middle of the night anymore. I am looking for any suggestions that may ease my comfort that is safe to use during breastfeeding. I understand that taking peppermint as a supplement during breastfeeding is no good because it lower my milk supply. I am currently taking Unifiber which is an insoluble fiber and I understand that taking soluble fiber is better for the constipation so I'm interested in the acacia. Does anyone else know about anything else that is compatible with breastfeeding? Thanks.
