Hello eveyone, my apologies if this is the wrong place to post and for the yucky details. I have just found this site this afternoon, read everything I could find and ordered Heather's products and books although I am not sure how long they will take to get to Australia. I feel close to tears as I write this as I feel very hopeful (again) but have tried many things before.
I have IBS D, (mostly in the morning, I have had accidents) I've had it for 8 years and been treated in many ways from strong doses of antibiotics (helped for a while)and bile binders to antidepressants (inc Zoloft - didn't help) and lately Colofac and Creon forte (pancreatic enzymes). I'm not taking any of these at the moment but I live on Lomotil and Immodium (on bad days up to 6 tablets of each - they help to slow me down eventually). My specialist has now told me there is nothing more he can do and he isn't particularly interested in my condition anyway! Lately I have been taking Calcium carbonate which is helping with the D but not with the urgency. I am about to try probiotics but have had very bad D when I have tried them before. I have a hypnosis Cd which I am also going to try again - it helps me sleep but doesn't seem to help during the day.
My question is, I am about to go back to my helpful GP as I am over anxious which makes me worse (over the urgency and having accidents) and wonder if anyone has an anti depressant prescribed which has helped them with this. If anyone has found anything that has stopped the urgency I would also like to know.
Some of the diet I have tried before but I will put it all together tomorrow. I'm feeling positive for the first time in ages.
