I have been struggling with IBS since I was first diagnosed at 19. I am now 50. My symptoms have come and gone over those years, but have recently reared it's ugly head since last August, when they returned with a fury. Needless to say, I have been quite frustrated, and have had almost no help from doctors, except to tell me that "all you have is IBS" and nothing more. In my research I kept reading over and over about lactose intolerance, but didn't think too much about it, since I love milk and other dairy products. But recently I decided to try rice milk and to cut down on dairy products - WOW! What a difference! So far (fingers crossed) things have been much better! It's hard to believe that something so simple could be making such a difference. Although I am being cautious, since I know the cyclic nature of IBS. Anyone else out there have this experience? It seems to be mainly milk to drink for me - some dairy I can toerate. Unbelievable! It almost makes me nervous - and, so, I am cautious - as to how simple this was. I'm hoping this works!
