Almond *Paste* is a sweet confectionery-type thing that is used for baking. You can sometimes buy it canned on the baking aisle. This is *not* the same thing as "almond butter."

Almond *butter* is the food that's appropriate for IBS diets (as long as you don't overdo). It's like peanut butter, but obviously made of almonds instead. Almond butter is not sweetened.

There probably shouldn't be any confusion about this, since you don't go to the same part of the grocery store to get it. The best almond butter (IMO) is the kind you grind up at the time of purchase at the health food store.

I guess saying "paste" as a descriptor was just an unfortunate choice of words in this case.
