Reading up on "levator syndrome" (a.k.a. "levator ani syndrome") and "anal fissures" may shed some light on things. Of course, talk with your doctor also. Pain is a signal that something's not right, but it can be hard to tell exactly what's going on without medical intervention. If (heaven forbid) it's something like cancer, it's better to know sooner than later.
