I've read that sulphur-containing vegetables are an IBS trigger, so I assume it follows that sulphur water is as well, and yes, my well water contains sulphur. I've had IBS on and off for 20 years--mostly off, fortunately. But six months after moving here, I began to have chronic IBS symptoms. I just learned of the sulphur culprit, and switched to bottled water for a few days along with dietary changes. I got much better, then I went back to my well water due to the hassle of lugging gallons of bottled water from the grocery store. I continued to feel fine for several weeks and now, despite the diet, am again suffering from bloat and some constipation. Obviously, I can go back to the bottled water--even have it delivered--but my question is: DOES ANYONE KNOW IF SULPHUR CAN BE FILTERED FROM WATER? It appears that the Brita system does not eliminate sulphur, at least they don't list this along with what is eliminated, and I cannot find a phone number for Brita outside of Australia. For the record, my well tank set-up aerates the water before it gets to my house so I don't have to deal with the smell, but the sulphur remains. Thanks, Mary M. Norman, Oklahoma
