Hey there,
Yes - everything I've read (this website + Heather's books) says that the diet that is technically for "IBS" also works for UC and Crohn's Disease. That's the cool thing about it.
** If I'm wrong here, someone please correct me! **
You'll have to go into the diet knowing that you might have to experiment and "tweak" things along the way since everyone's body is different. Don't get discouraged. Just start slowly and when you hit a snag, try to figure out what could have caused it & change whatever you can. Following the diet to the letter works really well for some people...and others (like me) have to fool around with it a bit, BUT all the while, still following the big principles/rules that Heather puts out there. Rules based on how we react physically to certain food groups.
I'd suggest hitting the "Search" link in the green bar at the top of each page - set the search for "All Posts" (no date limitations) and "All Forums" - for Ulceritive Colitis to get more info. There's also a board/forum just for UC and Crohn's folks...scroll down a bit in the list of boards (i.e. "Eating for IBS", "Yoga for IBS", "IBS Lifestyle", etc.).
Hope this helps. I'm no expert, but someone also trying to figure out the diet! And my body!
