Irritable Bowel Syndrome Message Boards | Update--Heather, pls read!

Hi,
As you may recall, I was suffering with an intestinal parasite called b. hominus. I am happy to announce that it is finally gone (after several months and a bunch of antibiotics!). Unfortunately, I am still having a lot of bad symptoms. It seems that the infection, and probably the antibiotics, have really assaulted my gut! And I now test positive for a proliferation of an "unfriendly bacteria". It can be treated with another round of antibiotics, but the doc doesn't want to do that to me again yet. So I'm trying natural methods.

So it seems that my previously manageable IBS is now much worse than it's ever been, and it's more D than C, after a lifetime of C.

At any rate, I can finally start looking at the diet as a way to resolve the assault on my poor tummy. I do think that the diet has helped, even through the infection, as it kept me being as sick as I might have been.

I have been using a fiber supplement with probiotics and vitamins in it that seems to work okay for me. It's called Medi-Clear. It's to help strengthen the GI system.

Anyway, I just wanted to let you know that I'm back to basically just IBS, instead of the other complication. If you have any suggestions for next steps to start getting back to some semblance of normalcy, I'd appreciate it!
