I was told to start at 10mg and increase to 25mg. From the outset, it made my C much worse. When I managed to get up to 20mg, it completely backed me up. I went to see a different doctor at my practice yesterday (my sister had recommended him - she said he actually listens to what you say!) and he took me off the amitriptyline and prescribed Prozac instead. I will start it next week. It is supposed to lean more towards D as a side effect, so may help my C as well as pain. The amitriptyline wasn't helping with anything. I will let you know how I get on with it. Like all ADs, it takes a while to kick in. Print     Remind Me     Notify Moderator
