Irritable Bowel Syndrome Message Boards | sudden ballooning of abdomen- help!

i dont know what is happening to me! i have IBS-A and have been following the diet with good results.
recently (very recently, it seems like just overnite!) my waistline ballooned up and nothing i own fits me!
in fact, while my actual weight is the SAME!! i went from a size 14 pants to barely able to wiggle into a size 18

i am guessing this is fluid retention/bloating, but i am at a loss as to why it is so severe, and why now?
i mean, what could have happened to cause this?

does this happen to others with IBS?
i have had this "swelling" for lack of a better word for it, for about two weeks now.

is there anything i can do?
i have no pants that i can wear out of the house (except a very heavy pr of fleece with a very very loose elastic waistband )and am wearing loose nightgowns indoors.

i look like i am 9 mos pregnant with TRIPLETS!
i have an appt with a doctor for the middle of next month, but what do i do in the meantime?

help!! please!
this is putting a strain on my back, throwing my balance off and making me very miserable
any suggestions greatly appreciated!!
