Iron and Constipation

I was recently told that I have dangerously low levels of iron and severe anemia. I am on an iron supplement and a multi-vitamin-- Doctor's orders. However, this leads to IBS with C, which has been more prevalent for me lately anyway.

The doctor says I cannot give up the iron just yet because after two months I am still not where I am supposed to be.

My question is this: I am increasing my salad/ spinach intake to counteract the iron.

For lunch, I am eating a banana, a slice of white bread and then some greens with tuna or chicken breast. I am just worried about bringing on an attack. I am also eating some honey dew melon in the afternoon and I am eating some of the recommended dry cereal.

Is there something else I should add to avoid an attack and how much of the greens are safe. I know Heather says to eat small portions but I am not sure how much that is. Anyone know?

I would say I am eating about a cup and a half with either chicken or tuna. I was eating lentils or blackbeans but neither kept me regular. Sorry for going on and I hope you can help me.

Thanks,

Lourdes
