Hi;
If this is a recent onset I'd definitely suspect the meds she's recently started. Especially, since she's had IBS-D for a long time...any med with a D side effect will usually trigger it in someone susceptible to it. That could also explain no improvement since the diet. However, IMO 4 days isn't a long time. If the meds triggered it, and the trigger wasn't stopped the diet won't offset the trigger. I hope that makes sense. I highly recommend the books available on this website if she doesn't have them already.
I hope she feels better soon...I recommend sipping on peppermint or fennel tea and eating whatever will stay down...oatmeal? rice? sf? I know there are times when it seems you can eat nothing. Is she taking immodium around the clock? It can take a very long time to stabilize...but the trigger has to be stopped if she can figure out what it was...
