Irritable Bowel Syndrome Message Boards

Hi,
I am new to posting but have followed the board for a while.I have an immediate problem. I have anxiety disorder and yesterday had to have 2 root canals.The doctor gave me 20mg of liquid Valium to calm me.(I was in the chair for 31/2 hours.) halfway through I felt nausous and a familar wave of woosh and sweat up the back of my neck. I thought it was anxiety and so after my Dh got me a milkshake from M's as I wasn't suppose to eat.so last night I started to have an attack. what should I do now? No eating? peppermint tea?Metamucill? please help! I am travelling on my own in 2 days and need to at least alleviate some of the symptoms. Normally I would not have a milkshake(too "dopey" to realize after surgery).I've not eaten since then. Could the Valium have set off the attack(I've never had it before).I realize the high anxiety could have set it off too.Also when the symptoms start it sets off a panic attack( I take .5 Ativan when this happens) Please,any help would be greatly appreciated!!
