IBS and nursing

I am trying to stabilize IBS-D, whilst nursing my baby son. I feel I canīt really follow Heatherīs BTC diet, as I get too hungry and am afraid that it is not nutritious enough and will impact the nursing.
Is there any other way to improve IBS symptons beside having BTC diet of just SF or can one start of following the basic guidelines (for example SF with some protein, and veggies) and expect improvement from the symptons although may be not so quickly? How long does it take to stabilize?
Has anyone else had trouble following BTC diet and then managed to stabilize anyway?

By the way, I use Acacia SFS for 2 weeks and stopped as I was not sure if it was contributing to making the IBS-D worse (started on 1/2 tsp twice a day)

Many thanks!
Leslie
