Irritable Bowel Syndrome Message Boards | Please, please, please if anyone can answer this

I am going to make an appointment with a specialist tomorrow. However, I was wondering if anyone here had any thoughts or suggestions.

I have always been a very type A personality and extremely nervous. I know I internalize and always have internalized a lot of stress. After my divorce several years ago my stomach has gotten progressively worse. Let me also say that I have always been a junk food junkie all my life.

My symptoms are only constipation and constant flatulence. I recently started using beano drops and they seemed to help with the flatulence, however not the constipation. I started flaxseed and fennel tablets and the flatulence is now constant (just air ~ I HATE this ~ worse morning and night ~ I can also get gassy during the night which I understand is not IBS related because the IBS gut goes to sleep at night). Since starting the flaxseed and fennel tablets, I am starting to feel discomfort in the intestine area as well. Kinda like I am sore.

Can anyone tell me if this clearly sounds like IBS? My general physician said it was and I have had only a few tests. One was to check the bladder function. Another was a scan of some sort that determined I had a polyp in the bladder.

I have read about diverticulum. Can that be my only problem? Thus the pockets of gas that form in the diverticuli. Anyone know about this disease and if there is a cure or a way to get healthy again?

Any other thoughts or suggestions based on my story? Please anyone, I am so overwhelmed with my health these days. I go in on Wednesday for tests. I found a cyst on one breast and the doc found calcification on another and they have to rule out malignacy.

I am only 44.
