hi,

i'm new here, i hope you don't mind...but i have a few (okay kind of alot!) of questions.

i was dianosed with IBS about a year ago. whether i "really" have it..i'm not sure, but they couldn't figure anything else out, so they said my 'episode' was just a flare up of IBS.

i don't have explosive diahrea, but do have issues of constipation. i take nexium, robinol and zelnorm.

my question re: white bread is this. i noticed it's recommended over the wheat. but in the past whenever i've ever tried to eat white bread, i've had MAJOR problems with gas , bloating and constipation. i'm so scared to even embark upon this diet...in that if i 'know' white bread is problematic for me...and gas causing...would the other soluable fiber foods also cause problems for me?

i'm currently on an atkins-type diet "somersizing". (but NOT atkins..it's more food combining type diet) i've found the isolating of foods and food combining has been better for my stomach. although, currently i'm suffering from what seems like a flare up of my stomach problems. at this point, i've found that i can only eat about 3 types of food. (ground chicken just light seasoning, japanese pears, whole wheat pita bread, shredded wheat cereal) without too much problem.

also, i am unable to eat any type of sugar. (from the sugar cane.i.e. cane juice, molasses etc) i used to be a sugar-maniac...but after the birth of my first son, have found sugar to cause severe headaches (migraines). could this be IBS related?

at this present moment...i'm desperate. i'm having stomach problems...and can't figure what to eat. i'm afraid to deviate from the few foods i can safely eat...but last night had nausea..and thought it was perhaps from the chicken! (oh no!) so want to stay away form that. if i don't eat at least a bit of protein...i find myself feeling weak...what should or could i safely eat to get through this bout?!! i'm contemplating edamame..but did a search on the boards, and the comments seem a bit varied. tofu? is that okay? (not sure if my stomach will like that, either..) i realize it's much about trial and error..but am afraid to try!

please help!
sorry so long!
thank you so much in advance!
